In the heart of the Klein Karoo, APD Oudtshoorn is turning one of the region’s most iconic natural resources into a range of beautiful, handcrafted gifts.  The branch’s O-So-Eggy collection showcases the creativity, skill and dedication of persons with disabilities who transform ostrich eggshells and wood into unique keepsakes, home accessories and wearable art.

The O-So-Eggy project was established in 2024 and has grown into a thriving initiative that creates opportunities for persons with disabilities through meaningful work and skills development.  APD Oudtshoorn operates two workshops, one in Oudtshoorn and another in Dysselsdorp, where a total of 44 clients participate daily in producing the range of handcrafted products.  Each item is individually handmade by persons with various disabilities, ensuring that no two products are exactly alike.  From carefully arranged eggshell mosaics to hand-painted and engraved jewellery pieces, every creation reflects patience, creativity and craftsmanship.

The O-So-Eggy earring collection combines handcrafted artistry with local flair. Created from ostrich eggshell and finished using various techniques including decoupage, engraving and hand-painting, these lightweight statement pieces are available in a range of distinctive styles:

• Decoupage Square Earrings
• Decoupage Teardrop Earrings
• Decoupage Round Earrings
• Engraved Round Earrings
• Teardrop Earrings with Wooden Toppers
• Rectangle Earrings with Wooden Toppers
• Round Earrings with Wooden Toppers

Each pair is individually handmade, making every set a unique work of art.
