Recent engagements between the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and disability organisations in the Western Cape brought long standing concerns into full view: accessibility remains inconsistent, representation within the IEC’s own teams is far too low, and persons with disabilities continue to face avoidable barriers when exercising a basic democratic right.
